As Dr. Kristen Poe points out, increasingly busy lives mean that many people lose touch with their basic physical and mental health needs. The recent expansion comes in recognition of the growing demand for lifestyle advice and provides residents in Worcester and surrounding communities with a natural solution.
Sometimes referred to as integrative medicine, holistic therapy considers an individual’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being to provide an overall improvement in health. As Mayo Clinic points out, the approach is now being used to assist in a wide range of conditions, including cancer, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and more.
From a physical perspective, Dr. Kristen Poe states that diet can often make a significant difference to health and well-being. As part of the recent update, clients are shown how to incorporate more organic products and herbs into their daily routine, as well as limiting the intake of sugar.
Lifestyle changes may also include regular exercise, such as yoga, which can help to trigger the body’s natural healing processes. A growing body of evidence has demonstrated the positive effects that meditation can have on mental wellbeing, and clients are also introduced to these practices as part of the integrative approach.
