West Lake Hills, Austin, TX - Westlake Hills Dental Arts - (512) 328-0155 - has announced updates to its restorative dentistry services. Now providing CEREC same-day crowns, the practice can offer patients a faster alternative to other tooth restoration procedures.

Austin, United States - November 14, 2023 /PressCable/ —
With its new same-day crowns, commonly referred to as CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic), the practice will use in-house milling technology to ensure its patients can have damaged teeth scanned, prepared, and covered in a single session.

For a natural-looking finish, Dr. Long of Westlake Hills Dental Arts uses CAM (computer-aided design) tools to fabricate custom caps that can then be permanently adhered to the affected tooth, lasting up to 15 years. Comprised of ceramic material, the CEREC crowns are resistant to staining and imitate the natural look and feel of teeth.
During the CEREC appointment, the Westlake Hills dental practitioners will scan the teeth to take a 3D impression of the mouth. The CEREC software can then use this to manufacture a cap that fits perfectly over the damaged teeth and blends in with the surrounding ones. The dentists will check it for fit and make any necessary adjustments.

The advantages of CEREC compared to traditional crowns include reducing the number of dental visits, increasing the speed of the restorative procedure, boosting the accuracy of the fit with 3D technology, and dispensing with the need to wear a temporary cap, explains Dr. Long.
“CEREC crowns are one of a kind. They make the experience of undergoing restorative care easier and more convenient”, she added.
