Qualified and registered osteopath Mr David Guilleminot stated, “Awareness of acupuncture and osteopathy as a potential treatment for headaches and migraine is low, yet it can be a very easy and timely intervention to abort headache symptoms and improve patient well-being”
Migraine is a common disorder with a prevalence in the population of 6% in men and 18% in women. Studies comparing the efficacy of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), drugs (triptans) and sham therapies demonstrated that there was a significant difference between the group being treated with OMT compared to the drug and sham therapy groups, suggesting that OMT can be considered a valid procedure for the management of patients with migraine. Headaches often have more than one cause—physical, psychological, and pharmacological. Each cause requires treatment. Mr Guilleminot starts by systematically eliminating specific headache triggers to arrive at the root cause of the issue.
Acupuncture can also assist those women experiencing fertility issues. A recent study from Tel Aviv University found that when Western fertility treatments were used in conjunction with acupuncture, conception rates increased by 26%. It may be that Acupuncture increases fertility by increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs, reducing stress and balancing the endocrine system. In Tune offers both acupuncture and osteopathic treatments for pre-pregnancy, during and when recovering from pregnancy. Treatments aim to reduce muscle tension and ease some of the physical discomforts of pregnancy.
The In Tune practice is directed by qualified osteopath Mr David Guilleminot. Mr Guilleminot, a French born osteopath, graduated from the Ecole Superieure d’Osteopathie (Paris) in 1999 and he and all the osteopaths in his team are registered with the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand. He has been practicing throughout Auckland since 2000.
