The Citizens Commission on Human Rights’ mental health traveling exhibit, now in its 20th year and presented in 17 languages worldwide, was recently exhibited at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference.
Washington, DC, October 6, 2026 /MarketersMEDIA/ -- With the purpose of reinforcing mental healthcare that is patient-centered, consensual and respects human rights, the National Affairs Office of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) presented the organization’s globally traveling exhibit on mental health and human rights at the recent Congressional Black Caucus Foundation 55th Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. The exhibit traces the history of psychiatric practices to the present day, underscoring its evolution from the early days to its future with the modern emphasis on the preservation of human rights in the field of mental health.
The exhibit is part of CCHR’s ongoing educational campaign promoting mental health practices with international human rights standards, as called for by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, among other international organizations.
Using historical facts and visuals, the exhibit brings to light the unvarnished early history of psychiatric practices up to present-day practices and their relation to human rights. Facts presented in the CCHR exhibit also expand on the role of psychiatrists and psychologists in racial disparities in the mental health system that were acknowledged by both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association on their websites in 2021.
The exhibit was viewed by elected officials, civic leaders, professionals, business people, and other convention visitors from around the nation, with many people reaching out to CCHR for more information or for the exhibit to be displayed in their cities or at their conferences.
