The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults (internists).
Listing her professional affiliations, Dr. Alvarez is an active member of the American Medical Association and the American Medical Women's Association.
Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of family medicine or internal medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Hospitalists improve care for hospitalized patients, managing day-to-day care and providing prompt and complete attention to all patient care needs including diagnosis, treatment, and the performance of medical procedures (within their scope of practice).
