New series helps children overcome trauma, grief, and bullying with the help of Lake Champlain’s most notorious legend
(PRUnderground) April 20th, 2022

Perhaps once per decade a story comes along to inspire, empower, and equip children with the tools they need to walk this journey of life with faith, confidence, and wisdom. However, these stories are seldom transformed onto the big screen to captivate audiences everywhere and act as a partner in helping children conquer life’s most challenging issues — until now. Lucy and the Lake Monster is a new, cutting-edge children’s series and a soon-to-be feature film that masterfully illustrates how to overcome any mental health challenges like worry, depression, and anxiety.
Co-written by Academy-Award Considered Filmmaker Richard Rossi and Teacher Kelly Tabor, Lucy and the Lake Monster tells the story of a nine-year-old orphan girl and her grandpa searching for “Champ” the sea serpent that lives in Lake Champlain, at the border of New York and Vermont. Along the way, Lucy and her grandpa venture out where they are met with bullies, naysayers, and mercenary forces determined to exploit them, yet they continue to leverage childlike faith to overcome hardship and persevere.
“Champ, the sea serpent, is an allegory for God. The pure in heart, like Lucy, see Champ as good. Others teach Champ is a monster for mercenary purposes, the way manipulative ministers scare people today.”- Richard Rossi, Academy-Award Considered Filmmaker, and Co-Writer
Highlighting the beauty of Lake Champlain and honoring the legend of Champ, Lucy and the Lake Monster is set to begin production in July and will showcase Crown Point’s beauty, community, and local businesses while creating a tourism attraction unlike any other.
“For me, growing up in Crown Point was magical. Hearing stories of our legendary Champ, captivated my interest as I swam and explored the shorelines and waters of Lake Champlain. As a teacher, I later took those stories and experiences I had with me into the classroom and shared them with hundreds of students over the years, piquing their interest.” – Kelly Tabor, Co-Writer
Eternal Grace, the non-profit media ministry championing the 2023 project is thrilled to announce that the role of Lucy will be played by the young and talented Emma Pearson, who has played a lead role in multiple short films, supporting in features, co-star in Blue Bloods on CBS and Evil Lives Here on ID Network.
“We received thousands of submissions from child actresses throughout the world for the lead role of Lucy. It was a big casting search, the search for a 21st century Shirley Temple. We finally cast the lead role of Lucy, eight-year-old Emma Pearson from New York will be playing the role. She has a beautiful, kind spirit, and big expressive eyes.”- Richard Rossi, Academy-Award Considered Filmmaker, and Co-Writer
